Manitoba Music Makers is pleased to bring you this exclusive and candid conversation with Mitchell Makoons and MMM show host Frank McGwire. Recorded in mid-February, this interview now aligns perfectly with the recent release of Mitchell's new album "Lady Boots" and a long list of shows that will keep him busy throughout the summer.

Mitchell Makoons, a roots-rock musician from Brandon, Manitoba, first picked up the guitar at age seven to accompany his grandfather and brother's Métis fiddle tunes. Makoons remains an active member of the Manitoba Métis community, weaving traditional Ojibwe music and culture with modern influences into his songwriting.

Over the past year, Makoons has gained traction on the Canadian festival circuit, performing at high-profile events such as Dauphin's Countryfest, Ste. Madeline Métis Days, All Folk'd Up Music Festival, and Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
