Man Under The Influence of Meth Threatens to Stab Someone

At 8:00 pm, police received a call from the downtown security patrol of a male armed with a knife in the 000’ block of 8^th Street.  The male indicated he was looking for someone to stab or he would stab himself.  The male was quickly located and contained by police who began attempts to de-escalate the situation.  The male refused repeated commands to drop the knife throughout the prolonged interaction and repeated his desire to stab himself. 

Police eventually deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) which caused incapacitation, and he was restrained without further incident and no injury.  The 34-year-old man was under the influence of meth and transported to BRHC to be medically cleared.  He was then lodged for an assessment in the morning.
